Old rivals Balakrishna and Chiranjeevi are clashing once again at the box office this Sankranthi with their Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya. The clash comes at an interesting time when Balayya’s career is booming and Chiranjeevi’s is in a bit of a struggle.
At the US box office, Veera Simha Reddy already crossed the $400K mark while Waltair Veerayya is over the $350K mark. Both the films are poised to settle around $600K-$700K.
This is a huge number considering they are senior stars and are coming up with regular mass entertainers. Mahesh Babu’s Sarkaru Vaari Paata collected around $750K for its premiere. That will tell us the story of how big these numbers are.
The clash naturally induced a sense of competition among fans and also triggered interest in the audience. Moreover, it’s been a long time since we watched a star film. So, the collections are big. They are also bigger than Akhanda and GodFather for that reason.
Shloka Entertainment, the US distributor did a good job giving a good release with very good planning. They are also associated with Varisu in the United States.
Some media houses are coming up with silly theories – Kammas and Kapus are bulk booking tickets to show records and may cancel the tickets for a full refund before the Premieres.
The same people floated similar conspiracy theories for Akhanda and were in denial till the last minute about the movie’s success in the United States.
They say the bulk bookings are tribute/donations to their stars and still, they will get canceled at the last minute. Such theories are a collective insult to the intellect of the media.
These people naturally strive for hatred of castes. They got Kamma – Kapu combination this time, a notch higher than Akhanda and they are having fun.
By the way, the tickets booked for Akhanda in Dallas are not canceled yet.
Mega fans have fallen into the trap of these vested interests and are blaming the US distributor in the name of fewer shows etc.
Shloka had invested so much in three films. Who would play games with their own money, after all, Shloka will not get a full refund on the Millions of dollars they invested.
The difference between Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy is small. And the premiere of Waltair Veerayya will happen one day late than Veera Simha Reddy. The difference may get covered and Waltair Veerayya may be leading too.
It is too immature to blame the US distributor who has the highest stakes with huge money involved. Fans better not fall into the trap of conspiracy theorists.
