After all the anticipation we are finally into the final few days of the release of Sankranthi movies. The booking for all Sankranthi movies from Telugu is opening one by one. Here is how the films are faring as of now.
In the US, the first part of NTR biopic, NTR – Kathanayakudu is leading all the way. The distributors have done an excellent job about the shows amidst tight competition and have tried their best in getting the right timing. It is reflected in the early pre-sales which are nearing $ 200K at the moment. The premiere number is expected to be well above $ 500K if the same momentum is maintained as we get closer to the release. NTR needs to do more than 2 Million to break even in the US which means it needs to start with a bang.
The other two Sankranthi movies from Telugu cinema, Vineya Vidheya Rama and F2 haven’t opened in most of the locations yet. As a result, they are lagging far behind NTR concerning the early sales. In a day, they are likely to open all over, we guess. So, the initial estimate can be had only closer to the release, unlike NTR where a trend can be observed.
In the Telugu states, the bookings for NTR have opened in most places. They are excellent in the multiplexes and need to pick up in the single screens. The worldwide break-even number is around 70 Cr for NTR – Kathanayakudu. Let us see how the audience responds in the coming days.
