The new releases after the Sankranthi movie releases have literally bitten the dust at the US box-office. ‘Ala Vakumthapurramloo’ definitely has a dream run at the US box-office, and though not as big as Allu Arjun’s movie, ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ has also posted good numbers.
But, the following weeks’ releases aka ‘Disco Raja’, ‘Ashwathama‘ and ‘Choosi Choodangane’ literally bit dust at the box-office leaving the US distributors in a sober mood. The last one among the three collected peanuts, $84 from four locations.
‘Ashwathama’ has grossed $70,067 on Friday along with premiere collections and ‘Disco Raja’ that came a week earlier didn’t post good numbers at the US ticket counters. So, there is no luck for new releases at the US box-office.
From the beginning, ‘Choosi Chudangane’ was never expected to be a winner but the negligible figure will be quite appalling for those who released the movie in the US.
The happiness went away along with the festival and therefore, let’s hope that the upcoming releases would bring some sunshine to the distributors in the US as films like ‘Jaanu’ may cater to the castes of overseas audiences.
