There is a renewed vigour in the US market post the sensational success of Jathi Ratnalu. The trade is now looking forward to seeing what the subsequent big films could do here, now that it is clear the audience will turn out with the right content. Films of Nagarjuna, Pawan Kalyan, Naga Chaitanya and Nani are in the line in the coming weeks.
Among them, we have an update on the Nani’s next Tuck Jagadish. According to the buzz, the movie is reportedly sold at around 1.8 Cr. Considering Nani’s market and the release it is likely to get, the breakeven target is around $550K to $600K.
Usually, $600K is a dead easily achievable figure for Nani in the US market. He has been consistently delivering a good number. But, under the current scenario, it is a little tricky. A lot will depend on the content and the talk. Still, with a decent word of mouth, it is an easy target.
However, despite such an easy breakeven possibility, it is still not as quickly done as said. It is because of the multiple releases back to back.
Tuck Jagadish will be the fifth noticeable release on the trot in the US. It starts with Rang De (a family entertainer), followed by Wild Dog (a thriller perfect for the multiplex audience), Vakeel Saab (Pawan Kalyan starrer), and finally Love Story (Sekhar Kammula’s next post-Fidaa). The audience could be exhausted by the time they arrive at Tuck Jagadish. Only a strong talk could pull in the audience then.
This multiple releases factor is likely to prove a significant hindrance for Tuck Jagadish for what otherwise is a walk in the park for Nani. Let’s see what is in the store.
Tuck Jagadish starring Nani and Ritu Varma, is directed by Shiva Nirvana. It hits the cinemas all over on April 23rd. S Thaman provides the music.
