Coming from a film maker like Upendra who was famous for his different outlook and too eccentric ideas, what audiences expect is something very different and sensational. Feeling the heat of expectations, Upendra is scared to even release the trailer of his film ‘Uppi2’ for promotions.
He is so overwhelmed by the advent and progress of social media that he thinks his fans are far ahead in creativity and hence is afraid if he can meet their expectations. He wants his fans to speak and promote the films which they are doing anyway. He thinks the sequel for ‘Upendra’ happened because of fans and for fans.
Where id he get the idea of making ‘uppi2’ from? Upendra says, ‘A line written on the back of an auto rickshaw gave him the idea for the sequel and fans demand propelled him to do the sequel after 15 years to answer the abrupt ending he gave to the prequel.
Among other things, Upendra supports ban against dubbing films in Karnataka. According to him, Telugu and Tamil straight versions do good business and have audiences in Karnataka while it is not the same with Kannada films in other states. They have to be dubbed because straight Kannada movies have no market in other States.
