The first single from Mythri Movie Makers new film Uppena introducing Panja Vaisshnav Tej is out. Devi Sri Prasad, who is going through a small rough patch currently, is providing the music.
The song with lyrics ‘Nee Kannu Neeli Samudram’ is a typical Devi Sri Prasad song. The arrangements are plain and simple. Yet, one is instantly hooked to the song on the first listen itself. The lyrics and melody, however predictable, does the trick. There is an inherent sweetness to it that hits the spot.
The Sufi touch added to the song with the Hindi lyrics gives the ‘predictable’ sound a new dimension. Javed Ali, as the main singer after a gap, adds to the freshness.
The lyrics combined with the easy-going instrumentation make ‘Nee Kannu Neeli Samudram’ a winner. The picturization and placement in the movie would further help its cause and take the distance if done right.
Uppena is a promised as a fresh, breezy love story set on a seaside after a long time. Buchi Babu Sana directs the movie. Krithi Shetty as the heroines completes the troika of debutant on the projects. Tamil star Vijay Sethupathy plays a crucial role in the love story.
