Sarileru Neekevvaru and Ala Vaikunthapurramulo are not the only biggies releasing for Sankranthi 2020, there is one more, which is currently under the radar. The movie is Superstar Rajinikanth starrer Darbar.
With two big Telugu films arriving at the same time, the buzz on the Superstar’s first-time combination with AR Murugadoss is considerably less. But, rest assured when the promotions start, there will be noise. We saw that with Petta as well despite a young director helming it.
However, despite the immense buzz for Petta in Tamil, the movie failed to take off in Telugu. It came along with many Telugu movies for Sankranthi and couldn’t get the right amount of theatres. To avoid the same mistake, the makers of Darbar have got the best distributors on board for its release.
Buzz in the industry is that a top distributor for each area in Telugu states in going to distribute Darbar. When we look at the distribution in trade terms, it is mainly divided into three core territories, Andhra, Nizam and Ceded. Suresh Babu, Dil Raju and NV Prasad will be distributing Darbar in these areas. With them behind the film, it is sure to get a decent release, even though big Telugu movies are arriving.
Darbar has Nayanthara playing the female lead. Anirudh provides music to the flick, his second outing back to back with Superstar Rajinikanth. Darbar is slated to release worldwide in Tamil and Telugu on January 10th. An official confirmation is awaited.
