Call it inspiration or imitation or else simulation, the popular word which means the same is ‘COPY’. Allegations on copying tunes aren’t new to many of the top music composers of the film industry and for SS Thaman too. Last year he gave superhit tunes for blockbuster film ‘Race Gurram’ and this year he is coming up with music for Sandeep Kishan’s ‘Tiger’.
The audio of the unreleased movie is promising and is receiving good response from the audiences. It is also receiving allegations that those tunes are copied from Tamil Superstar Vijay’s ‘Kaththi’, the tunes of which were composed by Kolaveri Anirudh. Especially the trailer track has very clear resemblances to the teaser track of ‘Kaththi’.
Earlier too, Thaman had faced such allegations of copying tunes from Bollywood superhit movies and sometimes from Hollywood even. If one goes by the argument that there are only few ragas and hence tunes emerging from them would bear similarities, Thaman can be excused for the allegations. If not, Thaman would soon lose credibility as a music director. What say?
