US Box Office Friday: RRR, GhaniMega Prince Varun Tej’s latest movie Ghani, which hit the screens on Friday (April 8), has opened to a lukewarm response at the US box office. If trade reports are to be believed, then the consensus among the critics and audience is that the film couldn’t match the expectations and hence couldn’t reach its true potential.

In spite of the decent actors’ performances and good production values, the routine storyline and flat narration turned out to be a huge disappointment.

Ghani collected a paltry $77k (premieres + Friday), which is much below the expectations. Whereas Rajamouli’s RRR continued its victory march and collected $150K on its 13th day, which is almost double that of Ghani on its first day.

Even in Ap-TG, the collections of Ghani have been underwhelming, and it would need a miraculous turn to take it to the break-even level from here on.
