Maharashtra has become the first state in the country to allow film theaters to open with 50% occupancy from Monday (tomorrow). As the COVID cases are on a decline, every state will follow the suit one after the other. As far as the Telugu film industry is concerned, Andhra Pradesh cases are still on the higher side. So, the reopening may be delayed.
An informal meeting has happened between industry biggies recently and they chalked out a plan to resume activity. The shootings will first start next month and the plan is to vaccinate as many film workers as possible before that. Big films are already vaccinating their cast and crew.
Meanwhile, as things stand today, the theaters may open from August 13th. The Independence Day long weekend holiday advantage may be left to the small and medium budget films this year. Like how it happened between January and March this year, August-October will be the testing ground this time.
The biggies are hoping to take charge from the Dussehra holidays. Things may not be easy from then because there are too many big films waiting for their turn to release. Some of them have been delayed since last year. We have films like Acharya, KGF, and Radhe Shyam eyeing Dussehra.
With Vaccination picking up, the audience will be more willing to come to theaters than earlier, the industry biggies feel. In case, the normalcy is restored well in advance, we may see medium-range films like Love Story, Most Eligible Bachelor, and Tuck Jagadish. There are many other films that would rush to release immediately after normalcy.
So, all these films would almost choke the box office once the theaters to re-open.
