Even as the Tollywood film industry saw an incoming of Tamil films dubbed in Telugu these last few years, the trend in now shifting towards the Kannada film industry such that popular Kannada films are now being remade in Telugu.
Case in point is Naga Chaitanya’s Telugu version of the Kannada hit Charminar whose remake rights of have been bought by producer Lagadapati Sridhar. The director hopes that the popular film will find a sympathetic audience in Tollywood as well. There is also actor Manchu Manoj who is looking to remake the popular Kannada film, Govindaya Namaha, which was originally directed by Pawan Wadeyar.
Producer Bellamkonda Suresh is of the view that the whole trend is dependent on the success of the film. According to him, since it is the Kannada filmmakers who are coming up with innovative ideas of late, they are working for the Telugu audiences too.
