Earlier in the year for the Dussera festival, as many as four films were released. Premam was the clear winner in terms of gross among them. If the latest release updates are anything to go by we may have a scenario where Christmas releases could be more than Dussera releases.
The films that we know which are slated to release for Christmas weekend are Nenu Local starring Nani, Aamir Khan’s Yudham. Apart from these two films, few more have lined up for release on the same day, December 23. The films are Manchu Lakshmi’s Lakshmi Bomb, Ram Gopal Varma’s Vangaveeti, Meelo Evaru Koteswarudu.
That’s five films as of now and there are reports about two more joining the same date. Even at five, that is more than Dussera releases. Unlike Dussehra, Christmas is not that a big holiday locally. Does it make sense, therefore, to release that many films for the festival?
