Tollywood Better Placed Than Bollywood in Post-Lockdown Situation?Producers Guild of India released a Press Note condemning INOX Multiplex Group’s warning of taking Retributive Measures on Filmmakers who skip Theatrical Release. The Guild listed various problems being faced by the filmmakers across the country. One important mention is about how Bollywood unlikely to get any respite in the near future.

“Re-opening of cinemas will be staggered across the country. Bollywood films have to wait for all the cinemas across the country to open to decide their movie releases as their business requires an all-India release. And then, cinemas in the other countries should also open,” they mentioned.

For Telugu films, cinemas in AP and Telangana, Karnataka matters. The losses from other markets like Tamil Nadu, ROI, are tolerable. But it is not the case with Bollywood films. So, we may get to see more Hindi films releasing directly online in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Multiplex and Theaters Lobby are pressurizing the Governments to re-open the cinemas at least by June-end to prevent the penetration of OTT Platforms into their space.
