For every actor, there will be a few challenging roles. especially when they’re playing roles that were previously done very well by other actors. This is the kind of pressure that Prabhas now seems to be under, with a lot of people wondering how his take on Lord Rama will be.
In a recent interview, senior journalist BK Eshwar expressed his opinion on Prabhas as Lord Rama. He said that Prabhas most certainly has the features and the build to play Rama, but said that embodying Rama’s personality is what needs to be seen.
Eshwar said that there would be a lot of restrictions while playing Rama and that a person shouldn’t overact while playing Rama. He said that it is highly important to remember that playing Rama is nothing like playing a character from other folklore films, and needs to be handled with care. He took the example of senior NTR and said that the audiences rejected him as Lord Krishna before Mayabazaar, which had greatly affected his self-confidence, but that it was director KV Reddy that boosted him up and once again presented him as Lord Krishna in Mayabazaar, with the right costumes and right characterization, after which he has been immortalized as Lord Krishna in Telugu cinema.
Prabhas recently completed a schedule of Adipurush in Mumbai, post which the director had said that 30% shooting had been completed. The film is scheduled to release in August 2022.
