There is this sentiment in Telugu industry that most directors deliver duds for the second attempts despite debuting with a hit. Not to blame the sentiment though as the trend continued for a long time in Tollywood and the most recent example we have is Akhil Akkineni’s Mr. Majnu.
The director Venky Atluri delivered a flop for Akhil after his debut hit Tholi Prema making the belief stronger that, the ‘debut hit’ directors are risky to do the second film.
But the latest two releases proved that this second film sentiment is no big deal any more.
Thankfully with Naga Chaitanya-Samantha’s Majili and Nani’s Jersey, both the directors Shiva Nirvana and Gowtam Tinnanuri broke the long standing sentiment. Both films happen to be back to back releases with hit talk. This is indeed a good sign and let’s hope that this new trend will continue from now on.
