The WarriorrThe past few weeks have been pretty disheartening for the Tollywood industry. Films like Pakka Commercial, Virata Parvam, and Ante Sundaraniki didn’t even take respectable openings on their first day, eventually turning out to be huge flops.

Yesterday’s release Happy Birthday also opened to poor houses making things worse for the industry. Post-covid, the audience was starved for big-screen entertainment, and films like Akhanda and Pushpa cashed in on that hunger and scored big numbers. But slowly, the audience lost their interest as there was an overflow of movies.

The trade experts believe that the dismal opening of recent films shows that the audience is not interested in watching mid-budget entertainers with average content in theaters. They can happily wait for a few weeks and watch it on OTT at the leisure of their home.

Ram Pothineni’s The Warriorr is coming up next week, and the film has some decent buzz attached to it, thanks to the popularity of its music. The trade is expecting it to open well.

But is the audience really entertainment-starved enough to step out of their homes and visit theaters to watch The Warriorr? Has the Lingusamy-directed film generated enough interest that people have been saving their time and money for this film, and is that the reason that they skipped watching the movies released recently?

Next Friday has all the answers to these interesting questions!
