Earlier there was a trend in the Hindi film industry is to produce remakes of famous South Indian movies which have been a huge success at the box office. For example films like ‘Dabanngg’, ‘Rowdy Rathod’ ‘Delly Belly’ and ‘Khosla ka Ghosla’ are all remakes which are now super hits. However lately the trend seems to be reversed and it’s the Bollywood movies that are being remade into Southern films for instance super hits like ‘Band Baajaa Baaraat’ and ‘Kahaani’ will be made into southern remakes.
‘Kahaani’, the thriller starring extremely talented actress Vidya Balan and directed by Sujoy Ghosh will be remade into a Tamil-Telugu bilingual film featuring actress Nayanthara in the lead role. Bollywood’s oldest popular film ‘Zanjeer’, already being remade in a more recent version, is also being planned to be remade into its southern counterparts as Thoofan.
Other movies being remade include the Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Band Baajaa Baaraat’, Abhishek Bachchan’s ‘Bol Bachchan’ and ‘Son of Sardar’, a film starring Ajay Devgn.
