Director Srikanth OdelaA few hours from now, Nan’s most ambitious project ‘Dasara’ will be out in the theaters. The film has garnered quite a bit of hype, and the film is all set for solid openings in the Telugu states and also in the USA. Nani has also hyped the film’s director, Srikanth Odela, as the next big thing in Tollywood.

Right from the first poster to other promotional material of Dasara, the late actress Silk Smitha has been a significant part of the film. Recently during an interview, Keerthy Suresh asked Srikanth about this obsession with Silk Smitha.

Srikanth revealed that in his childhood, he used to bring toddy for his grandfather, who had broken his leg while working in the Singareni mines. So for the first time in his life, he saw Silk Smitha’s poster in that toddy shop.

He said he didn’t even know that she was an actress then. But he was drawn to her as he found her very striking. He kept seeing her poster in that toddy shop for many years, which got etched in his mind.

So when he wrote the script of Dasara, he added his childhood memories of a toddy shop to the film. That is how Silk Smitha became a part of Dasara. Srikanth added that her inclusion added a lot of realism and nostalgia to the whole setting.

Dasara narrates the socioeconomic condition, political ambition, and struggle for power of the Singareni coal mines. Produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri, the film also stars Dheekshith Shetty, Sai Kumar, Shine Tom Chacko, and Samuthirakani.
