Even Small Films to Stay Away From Theaters Post-Lockdown?The long wait for the opening of cinemas across India is coming to an end. In a few days from now, on October 15th, the movie screens all over get permission to start the shows. However, all is not well despite the long-awaited ‘permission’.

The trade has absolutely no hopes, and it is the reason why some states have decided to postpone the opening by a few more weeks. There are many challenges for the movie screening, especially when it concerns the single screens. The government has only permitted to open, but are providing no other support.

At the same time, there is no fresh content to screen. The biggest setback has been pushing off the Hollywood biggies to next year. Many had hoped that they would fill the void before the real ‘local’ biggies arrive.

The movies which have to hold back the release want to wait further. They are not planning to arrive immediately and are looking at festive periods (for now). Even that is on the radar if the people show the inclination to go to cinemas.

Unlike the other film industries, in Telugu, there are many movies which could hit the screens. So, the problem to resume the screening with fresh content would be less if the audience is willing to come.

Right now, on October 15th what we will get is some Hollywood movies, digital releases which are already available along with the re-runs of a few old flicks. Will this be enough to entice the audience to the cinemas?

Everyone knows the answer, and hence, there is silence everywhere. The real impact of corona (or the lack off) on the moviegoers and film industry, in general, will be known only when star-centric films arrive. It will be some time before that happens even if the theatres are available and ready to screen.
