Dev Katta is one director who became immensely popular with just one film ‘Prasthanam’ but later couldn’t live up to the expectations with movies that followed ‘Prasthanam’. There was also a talk that the director doesn’t have control on the budget while making a film and simply escalates the costs of film making.
Speaking about this allegation in a recent interview Dev Katta said, “That’s one terrible boothu (abusive) publicity on me. There is no truth in this. There are some individuals involved in this publicity who did this for their ulterior motives.” This kind of rumours didn’t crop up during the making of ‘Vennela’ or ‘Prasthanam’.
But, when it came to ‘Autonagar Surya’, the producers had to justify where the amount is going from the big finances they had procured in the name of ‘Autonagar Surya’ says Dev. He claims that ANS was made with a budget of Rs.10 crores but was publicized as Rs. 25 crore budget movie.
Then, the production house was also under pressure because of other commitments and financial issues. Then, the blame game pointed towards him for convenience though the producers were the ones who didn’t plan properly and kept postponing the film’s shooting.
He also alleged that none of the artists who worked for the film got 100% remuneration as promised. So, there is no escalation of the cost. Everything was false. Isn’t it very clear which production house was director Dev Katta referring to?
