Kangana Ranaut’s Thalaivi, the biopic on late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha, has locked its release date. Thalaivi is the first pan-Indian film that is arriving on September 10 after the second wave.
With the Thalaivi release date announcement, Kangana has left Prabhas and other pan-India biggies including Rajamouli’s RRR behind. At a time, when many pan-India films are in dilly-dally mode on the release date announcement, Kangana has taken a daring decision surpassing all.
Thalaivi was first planned for release on June 26 last year and again in April this year, but the COVID played spoilsport. The film in fact got a whopping direct-to-OTT release offer but the team only opted for theatrical release. Given the things back to normalcy, makers are confident about good footfalls over the anticipated biopic.
Directed by AL Vijay, the film has an ensemble star cast with the likes of Arvind Swamy, Madhoo among others. Being released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, the trailer was well-received for its authentic depiction of events that took place in former CM’s life.
