First quarter of the current fiscal year is over and a look back at the box office reveals the fact that once again it is the Telugu film industry that is at the forefront among all the industries in India in terms of the successful movies delivered so far.
Telugu cinema this year started on a similar note as last year in terms of clash, however the end result wasn’t the same though. Unlike last year Ram Charan managed a big success this year with Yevadu where as Mahesh Babu failed with 1 Nenokkadine. With Bheemavaram Bullodu Sunil was back in the reckoning as a star. And finally Nandamuri Balakrishna struck gold with Legend. He scored a massive success after a wait of four long years bringing the much needed cheer on the fans faces.
That gives Telugu to industry three outright box office hits something which other industries can not say with confidence. For example in Hindi film industry there is only one clean hit film so far and similarly in Tamil there are only two clean hits. Even among these two Bollywood has no clean hit in terms of a real biggie. This comparison should prove to be an eye opener for our audience who keep on underrating out industry.
With few biggies still slated to release in the second quarter of the industry the trade is expecting the success ratio to increase further. Keeping the upcoming releases in mind like Allu Arjun’s Race Gurram, Akkineni’s Manam, a Sekhar Kammula film and a Maruthi film, how many of you think that TFI is going to lead the second quarter as well.
