D Suresh Babu -Allu Aravind -Needless to say that audiences are slowly getting used to watching newly released movies on digital platforms, and if the movie isn’t a biggie, a star hero’s film, they are trying to avoid going to theatres as it would be available just in two weeks. So, Telugu Film Producers’ Council has decided to increase the window period.

From now onwards, newly released movies are going to get enough time to breathe in the theatres before being available on digital platforms like Amazon and Netflix. The Producers Council decided that only after eight weeks of a film’s release, it would have a release on digital platforms. This is a really good move by the Council as Amazon and Netflix have become a big threat for small and medium budget movies, especially in the US market.

Some recent examples clearly throw light on the fact that some movies would have fared well in the theatres if they had a certain window period of eight weeks. So, this period is enough for any small or medium budget movie to be in the theatres and get its due. This is certainly a big decision that would help the revenues of a film.
