The Telangana government will be seeking the help of Hyderabad Nizam in the fees reimbursement issue. It is known that the government has decided to reimburse the fees of only those students whose families reside in Telangana before 1956. In order to get those records, Telangana government is taking out the census during Nizam era. The State Archives and Research Institute, Tarnaka has the records dating back to 1952 to 1956 and these will be used to identify the real Telangana residents.

However this nativity rule of Telangana government is being criticized by AP government and some of the families settled in Telangana after 1956. Also this rule is against the criterion set by President of India in determining nativity. However Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao is keen on not paying a single penny for those who are not of Telangana origin. The government feels this new rule will filter outsiders to the maximum extent. Experts are opine that this rule may get legal problems to the government if someone knocks the courts’ doors.
