The Power problems between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana seem to be never ending. The new problem arose between the states is regarding the ownership of Krishnapatnam Thermal Project in Nellore district. The 800 MW thermal project recently became operational and Telangana is claiming the ownership on it. The project was planned in the United state and then a separate corporation called AP Power Development Corporation Limited (APPDCL) was created to fund the project.

After the state division, Telangana has got major share in APPDCL and now basing on the higher share, Telangana government has asked AP to handover the project to Telangana or at least the management responsibility. AP government outrightly refused the claim saying that it already defied the division of ‘power’ assets between the states. AP has clarified that Telangana can not claim the ownership of a project in AP territory.
