Tollywood’s current base Hyderabad’s biggest advantage is having the ideal infrastructure which is required for film making and add to it technicians’ availability it becomes huge advantage for the city. Post bifurcation, talks have begun and many think AP’s port city Vizag’s biggest advantage is more than 40% of MPs and MLAs from TDP who have Tollywood connections, having lands in Vizag. N Prakasa Rao, Secretary of Vizag film society said that film making is a huge business and these politicians will draft policies on land availability along with tax benefits which will prove beneficial for the film makers.
At the present there is only one film studio, Rama Naidu Studios, in Vizag. However, the government has already allotted around 300 acres of land for the film industry’s development around Bheemilipatnam in the outskirts of Vizag. Lack of dubbing studios, film technicians’ availability, are some of the major drawbacks for the port city. If the film making institutes are also set up in Vizag, college pass outs can be attracted to the industry. The Vizag film society secretary however has stated that “To develop the complete infrastructure needed for the film folks it will take at least 10 years.
