Venkat Prabhu Custody Press meetTamil director Venkat Prabhu is coming up with an action thriller, Custody, starring Naga Chaitanya and Kriti Shetty. There are decent expectations from the film as Venkat Prabhu’s last film Maanaadu was a blockbuster, which the Telugu audience also enjoyed on OTT.

During a promotional interaction, media asked Venkat Prabhu about why Tamil films are not making a mark on the pan-India level like Telugu and Kannada films. Venkat Prabhu bravely accepted by saying, “I think Tamil industry is still making films only for the Tamil audience. And only certain films they think, Ponniyin Selvan 1….I don’t really know. I think Vijay’s Leo should break the barrier and make that impact in all languages as it has actors from other industries as well. But, yes, we are not as lucky as Telugu films and directors. But we will also get there slowly.”

It looked like Vikram Prabhu wanted to say Tamil industry tried making a pan-India film with Ponniyin Selvan, but then he realized it was a big failure in all languages except Tamil, so he didn’t want to humiliate the Tamil industry in front of Telugu media. So he skipped talking about it.

Custody is all set to release on May 12 and is expected to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller with a lot of twists and turns like Venkat Prabhu films usually are!
