For a biggie like Sye Raa, an advance booking report is futile. It is going to sell out all over. It will be news if it’s not the case. Then is another scenario, what if the shows itself are not confirmed?
The National Holiday release on October 2nd is the best date the makers of Sye Raa could have asked for. It is its bad luck that another biggie too is slated to come on the same day. It has turned out to be a great problem for the opening in critical places. Keeping that aside and looking at the public reception to the bookings at large, here is how things are stacked at the moment.
Sye Raa which has the buzz and excitement to set up new opening day records in at least a couple of areas in Andhra, is now looking a potential top 3 place. It is due to bad planning, late confirmation of shows and screen sharing at prime multiplexes. Hyderabad city is the most affected in this regard.
The mid-night shows too aren’t confirmed as of now. It all could change in the next few hours if all the permissions are obtained and the makers go ahead with early release all over. A National Holiday release is likely to make up for whatever is word of mouth (only for the opening day).
The top 3 openers in Telugu are Baahubali 2, Saaho and Agnyaathavasi. The two Prabhas films have collected more than 40 Cr and 30 Cr on their opening days. No other movie has crossed 30 Cr. Sye Raa which previously was aiming to go past Saaho is looking to pass 30 Cr, for now. Getting past Saaho would require a unanimous positive response from the audience. Even then, it could be a touch and go situation.
The Telugu version is what many seem to prefer even outside Telugu states. In other languages, Hindi, despite clashing with War is expected to be the second-best and a single-digit netter. It is only in comparison to the Tami and Malayalam dubbed as they are pretty poor at the moment. Watch this space for more box office updates.
