SVSC Anjali stills

Young in age and rife with talent, actress Anjali has won critical acclaim and bagged the Filmfare Award for Best Debutante (Female) for her performance as Anandhi in Kattradhu Thamizh (2007) as well as the Filmfare Award for Best Actor (Female) — Tamil for her performance as Kani in Angaadi Theru (2010). Even though Anjali comes from a Telugu background, it is the Tamil film industry that got her recognition. In a recent interview, Anjali answered some frequently asked questions about her life.

Talking about her career up to this point, Anjali says, “I started my filmi career as a dubbing artiste and later went on to do performance-oriented roles in Tamil cinema. Although I had won many awards for my Tamil films, it was Journey that got Tollywood to take notice of me.”

Anjali also seems to have several projects ahead of her. In her own words, “I am currently working on Balupu with Ravi Teja. I play the role of a doctor and it’s a very ‘layered’ role. The movie is likely to release in April 2013. I have also got three Tamil films in the pipeline — AR Murugadoss’ thriller Vatthikuchi, Madha Gaja Raja, a comedy flick directed by Sundar and Settai, the Tamil remake of Delhi Belly.”
