Suriya‘s Singham franchise director Hari made a sensible move by announcing a voluntary pay cut of 25% and thus, setting an example for the others in the industry to bale out the producers. H is going to direct Suriya next with his paycheck cut in place.
A lot is at stake in the film industry as it deals with huge amounts of money. Now is the time the industry folks need to decide something meaningful to save the producers from the financial crisis.
Star heroes, heroines, directors and star technicians etc. take hefty pay cheques and it’s time that they can rethink about their remuneration and set an example for others. Now that director Hari set a precedent, it’s up to the others to take the call.
During these Corona times, unless the stars go for a cut of their paychecks, there is no way the producers can bear the losses due to the theatres’ shut down. The future is uncertain as no one knows if the theatres will even be filled after the lockdown.
