Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth have a special place in the hearts of Telugu people. Though they are basically Tamil actors, Telugu audiences never consider these two stalwarts Non-Telugu. Both Rajni and Kamal did straight Telugu films and till date their films have good market value in Telugu States almost in par with their Tamil market. They didn’t reach this position so easily. They made Telugu audiences to own them with their sincere attempts by choosing subjects specially for Telugu audience and their ability to speak good Telugu won them credibility in Tollywood. Ofcourse, these two actors could make place in Bollywood even which no other South actor succeeded at till date.

Coming to Suriya, lately Suriya is hinting a lot at being keen on going Kamal-Rajni’s way. Though he never did a straight Telugu film till now, his dubbing movies have won him a lot of craze among Telugu audiences. Of late, he seems to be concentrating a bit more on Tollywood. His upcoming movie ‘Anjaan’ (Sikandar) audio launch in Hyderabad on 31st July followed by success meet of audio in Visakhapatnam on 6th August, all show his keen interest on Tollywood.

During the ‘Sikandar’ audio launch event, Samanta revealed that Suriya used to ask her to speak in Telugu with him. Is this a hint that he wants to concentrate on improving his Telugu speaking skills? He surprised audience by speaking in Telugu during Singham (Yamudu 2) and Sikandar audio launch events. Reportedly he has agreed to do a bilingual film (Tamil and Telugu) with ‘Manam’ director Vikram Kumar. This would be Suriya’s first straight movie in Telugu. All his latest moves suggest that Suriya is following Rajni and Kamal to make the Telugu audience own him as their own. Good going indeed!
