Superstar Breaks 6 Months No OTT PromiseBack when Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, just ahead of Laal Singh Chaddha’s release, stated that the film won’t arrive on OTT for at least 6 months, many thought it would a revolutionary move in post-Covid phase of Indian cinema. But that isn’t to be.

Aamir broke his 6-month no-OTT rule rather quickly. His recent film, Laal Singh Chaddha is already streaming on OTT just 55 days post its theatrical release.

Laal Singh Chaddha is a huge disaster at the box office and this early OTT release is being tipped as a loss cutting method. It is reported that the makers decided to orchestrate the OTT release on Netflix earlier than planned in order to seek extra revenue from the OTT giant.

Another interesting thing is that it was initially promoted that Voot Select is the digital streaming partner for the film. But now, the film made its OTT debut on Netflix, which could be another indication that Netflix offered marginally higher pay.

But either way, a superstar like Aamir breaking his promise on OTT at a crucial juncture like this is drawing mixed response from the netizens.

Laal Singh Chaddha is streaming in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil languages on Netflix. The film is an Indian adaptation of evergreen Hollywood blockbuster Forrest Gump.
