Late superstar Krishna had always been an enigmatic personality. Now that the much loved superstar is no more, here’s a look back at how Krishna actually got the “Superstar” screen title.
Back in 1982, Jyothichitra magazine which was largely popular used to conduct public polls to decide who can be called “superstar” of Telugu cinema.
This is when Krishna won the title comprehensively by emerging as the top public choice for the “Superstar” title. He won the contest with lacs of votes for 5 consecutive years – 1982-1986. Sr NTR came second in 1982.
The magazine then stopped the polls, which in turn led to Krishna being termed the permanent “Superstar” of Telugu cinema.
The Superstar title is now bestowed upon Mahesh Babu. Meaning, the title has been kept in the family from Krishna to Mahesh.
