Right now, dusky damsel Pooja Hegde and national crush Rashmika Mandanna are the two actresses who are ruling the roost in Tollywood. Makers of any big Tollywood film will first approach these two heroines, and if things don’t work out, only then will they go for another actress.
But Pooja Hegde has already acted with almost every star hero in Telugu. And Rashmika Mandanna, on the other hand, is busy with Bollywood projects as well.
Even Pooja Hegde is working on a Hindi project titled Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali (new title Bhaijaan) with Salman Khan and has recently joined the sets of Puri Jagannadh and Vijay Deverakonda’s ambitious project, JGM.
This gives very little option for star heroes and their filmmakers. If the makers repeat a heroine, fans complain that they want to see a fresh combo.
For instance, someone like Mahesh Babu, who usually doesn’t repeat his heroines, is now left with no option but to romance Pooja Hegde yet again after Maharshi in Trivikram’s project.
Pooja Hegde has always maintained her first preference in South films, and she would any day choose South over Bollywood. Pooja is also under consideration for the female lead opposite Yash’s next after KGF and is even in talks for Kollywood star Suriya’s one of the upcoming films. The audience also prefers to see a new actress than see just Pooja in all the films over and over.
The scenario is a perfect example that the Tollywood industry is running short of heroines.
