Indian Entertainment giant Sony TV had purchased 30% equity in MAA Tv. While the actual clauses in the agreement are not known, Both the channel managements say that the idea behind this is strategic investment of Sony in South.
MAA Television Network Limited as a corporate entity was formed in the year 2001 and the main channel MAA was launched in the year 2002. The second channel MAA Music was launched in 2008. With channels like MAA, MAA Music, MAA Gold, MAA Movies, MAA has emerged as a major Telugu Television network with a bouquet of channels catering all major genres. MAA TV was founded by Penmetsa Murali Krishnam Raju in summer 2002. The board of directors are Nimmagadda Prasad, Akkineni Nagarjuna, Allu Aravind, Ram Charan Teja & C Ramakrishna.
