One would have thought that the coronavirus pandemic would keep the buyers at bay, at least temporarily from acquiring rights of new films. It turns out that too much of an expectation. After a gap, we have an update regarding distributions details of movies.
A single distributor has bought not one but the rights of four keenly awaited movies. It is for the Nizam area. He is none other than Warangal Srinivas.
The four films are Mass Maharaja’s Krack, Sharwanand’s Sreekaram, Gopichand’s Seetimaar and Rana Daggubati’s Virataparvam. Almost all the movies are near completion. And they will be among the first releases as and when the theatres resume services.
Nizam territory is going to be a true tester as far as the movie’s run is considered. A healthy total for these films will mean a profit for the distributor and also suggest people are interested in watching movies.
What it also suggests is that the makers are looking at theatrical release for these movies, and not go the OTT way. It is good thinking on their part. However, a lot will depend on the reopening of the cinemas. Since these feature notable stars, one can be sure that there will be a public interest in them, without any doubt.
