The Telugu theatrical market in the USA has been on an upward spiral for a while now. Here’s one such instance involving Dhanush’s latest release, Sir.
Sir’s Telugu collections are more than double as that of the Tamil version, Vaathi’s collections. The total collections from the premieres are $52K. The Telugu version, Sir collected $37.8K which is double as that of Tamil version, Vaathi – $14.8K.

During the time of Ponniyin Selvan’s release there was an argument from the Tamil fans that the Telugu audience don’t encourage big event Tamil films the way Tamil audience lap up Telugu big event films.
But after seeing Sir’s Telugu collections being more than double as that of Dhanush’s home language, Tamil version, Vaathi’s, it can be understood that the Telugu audience are indeed ready to encourage other language film. The content is the key here.

The Dhanush starrer was given a limited release in the USA. For now, the Telugu version is clearly dominating the Tamil version in terms of theatrical returns in the USA.
