Ram_Sethu_Bollywood_MovieFor many years, Diwali has been the best season for Bollywood films when even average content goes on to make 100s of crores at the box office. Examples are Housefull 4, Sooryavanshi, Golmaal Returns, and Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo. But this Diwali it is looking shockingly dull.

This Diwali will witness the release of Akshay Kumar’s mythological thriller Ram Setu and Ajay Devgan & Sidharth Malhotra’s Thank You. Both films are carrying extremely low buzz.

What is shocking is that both the makers aren’t even trying to promote their films, especially the team of Ram Setu. The subject of the film is very festival friendly and there is a wave of devotion for Lord Rama in the country which makes Ram Setu a potential winner. But the makers have just left the film on its own. The trailer of the film received an average response and no songs have been released till now.

Thank You, on the other hand, is doing mildly better in terms of promotions. The film has a chartbuster song in the form of Manike featuring Nora Fatehi. The comedy genre is the favorite of the audience during the Diwali season. The team is promoting the film on shows like The Kapil Sharma Show but still, there is not enough buzz.

Both films are releasing on October 25th, the day after Diwali, which is considered the best day for collections in Bollywood. The trade is expecting an opening of 15 crores for Ram Setu and 10 crores for Thank You which is very low going by Diwali standards set by films in the past.

Unless the content clicks in a big way, Bollywood is in for a huge disappointment this Diwali. It would be no surprise if the Hollywood film Black Adam and the blockbuster Kantara will mint more money than the two Bollywood releases this Diwali.
