Directed by Anurag Basu, the super hit film Barfi!, managed to attract millions of people in India but unsuccessful in being included for the Oscars. It was reported earlier that the movie was up to compete for the best foreign language film category at the 85th Academy Awards but it could not make it.
The movie was a box office success in which Ranbir Kapoor played the role of a deaf and dumb boy and Priyanka Chopra, an autistic girl and received excellent from the critics as well as the viewers. Unfortunately, Barfi! could not qualify to the final nine movies that were selected out of 71 movies for Oscars.
Only five films out of the shortlisted films will make it to the top five . The nine films that battle are Amour (Austria), War Witch, (Canada), No (Chile), A Royal Affair (Denmark), The Intouchables (France), The Deep (Iceland), Kon-Tiki (Norway), Beyond the Hills (Romania) and Sister (Switzerland).
