There were many expectations and guesses regarding the special song which would be sung by Nandamuri Balakrishna. However, what we have got is a rendering of a classic song ‘Shiva Sankari’ from Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao’s Jagadeka Veeruni Katha.
One must say it is a daring attempt by Nandamuri Balakrishna to recreate the song in his voice. After all the original is in legendary singer Ghantasala’s voice. It is disastrous if one were to take a critical view. Not even a professional singer dare to attempt it. Nevertheless, for a star to do it the way Balayya has done is where NBK scores, even if the end result is far from satisfactory.
Also, a major part of the recreation is rekindling the spirit of the original classic. Whether or not one likes the singing, the song is sure to reverberate in the mind long after one has heard. It lingers on internally. And that is a great service to the song and the accompanying visuals from the original. It is a great touch to use the video as it is and rerecord the fresh lip-syncing.
