Gunasekhar is currently at the lowest point of his career with no proper hits for a long time. His last film, Rudhramadevi starring Anushka did not work out commercially. He later embarked on another mythological film, Hiranyakashyap.
Guna worked for around three years on the film’s Pre-Production Project and it looks like the movie is put on hold due to the huge costs involved. There are speculations if it is just held or if the project is shelved due to over-budget. Shelving is unlikely after so much of time and money spent on the Pre-Production.
Gunasekhar is moving on to some other project, meanwhile. Rumors are that it is another mythological film which will be based on Shakuntala’s life – Shakuntala is the daughter of Sage Vishwamitra. Vishwamitra wrote the famous Gayatri Mantra and is one of the most revered sages of Indian history.
It will be interesting to see who will be starring in the film. Probably, the announcement later tonight will give us an idea. Gunasekhar is known for erecting grand sets in his films and it looks like he is totally in the mood of grandeur films like Hiranyakashyap and Shakuntala.
