In a tragic incident, four tourists from Bengaluru have drowned in Amaravathi river while trying to take a selfie. The woman, Sindhu Priya, a victim was attempting to take a selfie using a mobile phone.
The woman lost her balance and fell into the river. Her husband Arul Joel Raj and her brother Gifton Raj Kumar and a relative Andrews tried to save her and also got washed away.
There are frequent deaths there due to accidental falls. The local administration have placed caution signboards along the Amaravathi river to deter tourists from getting too close to it but they ignored.
