Supreme Court of India expressed its concern over the wide spread availability of several softwares which can be used to intercept calls and extract personal information from any mobile handset. The concern is also over popular apps like Whatsapp and True Caller.
The petitioner allege that these softwares can be used for anti-National activities and the governments have no control over them. The complainant also mentioned that recently such softwares are found in the laptop of terrorists.
Some of these softwares can provide you with all the details including complete name and address along with the date of birth, alternative mobile/ land line number, call detail records, location of a mobile of any person, even if the person is a VVIP. After the hearing, Supreme Court sought a response from the Centre asking how such systems were being allowed in violation of law.
