Saree not Sorry campaign in usaEver since terrorists started to make an impact on the world, injustices against all brown people have become the talk of the day. With increasing hatred towards immigrants and brown people in USA, 31 year old Tanya Rawal is using the medium of traditional Indian wear sarees to educate the world about multiple social identities.

Rawal says that in the wake of violence against Indian communities such as Gurdwara shootings in Wisconsin, the police attack on Sureshbhai Patel in Alabama, and the death of Parminder Singh Shergill she aims to make people aware about the intersections of different cultural identities and political systems that shape our life.

To do this Rawal has taken to wearing Sarees everyday to her place of work since September of 2015. She also instagrams these images of her in sarees with the hashtag #SareeNotSorry.
