Sankranthi Race: Bangarraju Is Also At RiskThe Covid situation in India is deteriorating by the day. Telangana has reported over 100% increase in Covid cases as a total of 1052 new cases were reported today, as compared to yesterday’s 482. This should come as alarm bells for forthcoming Sankranthi releases.

If the situation doesn’t improve, we can expect the governments of the twin Telugu states to impose Covid-related restrictions. While a night curfew is not all that threatening to new releases, the imposition of 50% seating capacity regulation will inflict changes in theatrical returns.

If Radhe Shyam opts out of Sankranthi race, Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya‘s Bangarraju will be the sole biggie. The buyers of Bangarraju are hoping that this family drama, which is tailor-made for Sankranthi release will work well at the box office.

But with the spike in Covid cases, the situations are bound to change quickly. If the governments impose restriction on cinema halls, Bangarraju is also at risk.
