Actor Sanjay Dutt who went to prison after being convicted in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case was recently shifted to the Yerwada Central Prison where he was housed in a unit located in the Security III section of the prison. Upon making his stay there, Dutt talked to the prison authorities for a long time and requested to be assigned hard labour so that he can get a good night’s sleep. However, the prison authorities rejected Dutt’s request on precautionary grounds as it is suspected that other inmates of the jail may pose a threat to his life. Superintendent Yogesh Desai has confirmed that Dutt has not been allotted any work yet and that work will be assigned to him after a thorough security review.
Other than that, Dutt has requested not to be given the chair-weaving task as it could affect his eyesight.
