Saaho-Was-Missing-Independence-Day-Blessing-In-DisguiseThe Independence Day is over, and the numbers for the movies are out. All the films that came in various industries benefitted from the Holiday factor, but we take a look at Bollywood in the context of Saaho.

As many are aware, Saaho was initially slated to arrive on Independence Day with a bang. While the Telugu states openings would have been massive, with no doubts whatsoever, the same can’t be said about Hindi.

Two Hindi films released yesterday, Mission Mangal and Batla House. The former has got close to 30 Cr whereas the latter has got neat 14 Cr openings. Had Saaho came along with them, Batla House would have been affected the most. But, Mission Mangal would have got the same numbers at the multiplex. It is a perfect movie for that segment. Surely Saaho also would have cut into it, but the extent would be less.

Mission Mangal would have retained its multiplex-heavy standing, and Saaho would have got the patronage of masses. The scenario would have been similar to Independence Day last year when Gold and Satyamev Jayate hit cinemas on the same day.

Any way we look, despite a most likely good opening Saaho, would have most to lose, as it wouldn’t unleash its full potential.

Now, an August 30th release gives it a chance to maximize its initial on a pan-India level. If the hype and excitement post the release of the theatrical trailer is anything to go by, then even on a non-Holiday, one can expect Saaho to set the box office on fire. We, therefore, feel that the postponement has indeed come as a blessing. We would like to remind, before we conclude, that, all of the predictions are assuming Saaho manages at least an average word of mouth.

Saaho stars Rebel Star Prabhas in the lead with Shraddha Kapoor by his side. UV Creations produce this action spectacle.
