Thanks to the digital platform, the various Indian industries feel so together more than ever in the past. It is only going to increase further in the future. Take the case of Malayalam films which have gained a considerable following outside their traditional audience and market.
One such similar success story in Telugu as far as the outside (non-Telugu) audience is considered in Stylish Star Allu Arjun. We need not emphasise about his following in Kerala (among Telugu heroes). The same can be said about his movies in the Hindi heartland audience.
The proof lies in the massive views his Hindi dubbed flicks generate in Youtube. They are phenomenal for not only Telugu but entire South Indian industries. It can’t be put aside as fake manipulation. If that was the case, there are bigger mass stars than him, but they don’t have the same records online. Also, there is a correlation with TV viewership as well.
Not many might be aware earlier, and it needs to assertion now, but Prabhas too had high dubbed movie following. The Baahubali movies took them to a new level. The Hindi heartland audience recognises a lot of Telugu stars, thanks to these dubs and regular TV telecasts.
However, post the reception of Saaho at pan-India level, especially in the Hindi markets, more Telugu stars seems to be ready to take a chance. Already Jr NTR and Ram Charan are doing it with RRR. And now, the latest buzz is that Stylish Star Allu Arjun might also be trying to attempt with ICON, one of his forthcoming films.
It will be a risk, no doubt. But given the immense possibilities as an actor, being a pan-Indian star will be tempting. One can take a chance. It will also help in giving an idea of the power of the digital medium.
