Saaho Sets A New Record For Indian MoviesJapan is among the few rare countries in the world currently that has opened its theatres during the coronavirus pandemic. Saaho happens to be one of the non-local releases (initially screened before lockdown) that are getting continued after reopening of cinemas.

Rebel Star Prabhas’s Saaho is setting a new record for Indian movies. It has now become the highest opener ($110K) for an Indian film in Japan. It has overtaken Dangal, which is the previous record.

Furthermore, the Prabhas starrer Saaho now finds a place among the top 5 all-time grosses in Japan. The other films ahead of it are English Vinglish, 3 Idiots, Muthu and Baahubali 2.

The opening of Saaho and previously that of Megadheera suggests that director SS Rajamouli and Prabhas have earned recognition in Japan. It is due to the sensational run of Baahubali 2, which is the current highest-grossing Indian film in Japan (unadjusted for inflation).

Saaho has had a multilingual release, and except for Hindi version, the rest failed at the box office. The gigantic figures despite the failure are a sign of the newfound stardom of Prabhas post the Baahubali movies.

Sujeeth directed Saaho which was produced by UV Creations. Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor paired up in the movie. The action thriller had its worldwide theatrical release on August 30th, 2019.
