The more content from Saaho is revealed, the more impression one gets that it is a Hindi dubbed venture into Telugu. The overall feeling is that of a Hindi product, and packaging, dominating the scheme of things, from Telugu audience perspective.
Is this a miscalculation? We will know that once the movie is out. But, for now, one can’t shrug off the feeling of a Hindi dubbed biggie coming in Telugu. The second single Ye Chota Nuvvuna particularly feels so out of place from a Telugu perspective. It is jarring, to say the least, from the glimpse we have got. Such amazing visuals, and when the song starts, it makes one squirm in discomfort.
Could the makers have got two different tunes for the Hindi and Telugu audience respectively? It is a thinking that comes to the mind. The picturization remains the same, but a Telugu-original song for the Telugu version for the same situation would have been much better than what is being dished out. It would mean additional effort regarding shooting to match the lip-sync, but that would have ultimately saved all the second-hand embarrassment for Telugu audience and fans.
Saaho is a massive film, a success here would establish Rebel Star Prabhas as a genuine pan-India star. With so much at stake, a little bit of extra effort, wouldn’t be misplaced. Agreed, the action and special effects is what the makers are selling this film on, but imagine a real blockbuster song from Saaho that is on charts everywhere before the release? Wouldn’t that have put hype to a next level?
The complete second single in all languages would be out on August 2nd. The Sujeeth directorial, an UV Creations production, Saaho hits screens worldwide on August 30th.
